BRYAN, TX – Today Jason Bienski, Mayor of Bryan, enthusiastically endorsed Rep. Charles Schwertner (R-Georgetown) for State Senate, District 5. Incumbent State Senator Steve Ogden (R-Bryan) announced last month that he would not seek reelection.
“After sitting down and discussing the needs and priorities of the City of Bryan and Brazos County with Rep. Charles Schwertner, I am confident that he is the best choice to continue Senator Ogden’s outstanding representation for our area in the State Senate,” said Bienski. “Charles shares our values and conservative principles and will fight to protect our local community and deliver results for the families of Brazos County.”
Schwertner has already been endorsed by community and Republican leaders across the district including district mayors, Texas A&M University Regents, education leaders, GOP Club presidents, precinct chairs, Republican and TEA Party activists, and local state legislators.
“Mayor Bienski has done a wonderful job serving the people of Bryan, and I am honored to have his support,” said Schwertner. “If elected, I promise to work with the local leaders in Brazos County, like Mayor Bienski, to keep taxes low, promote local economic growth and defend our shared conservative values.”
