CRT Endorses Schwertner for Texas Senate
HOUSTON – Conservative Republicans of Texas made its first endorsement in the 2012 Texas Senate elections, endorsing Charles Schwertner in the contest to succeed Steve Ogden in Senate District 5. Senator Ogden recently announced his intention to retire at the end of this term.
“We are fully committed to electing Charles Schwertner to the Texas Senate,” said Dr. Steve Hotze, President of Conservative Republicans of Texas.
“Charles Schwertner is the kind of conservative leader we need in the Texas Senate. He stands with CRT to protect faith, family and freedom. Conservative voters in SD5 can rest assured that Schwertner will stand tall in the Texas Senate to protect and promote free enterprise and traditional family values.”
“Schwertner is a proven fiscal and social conservative who has courageously held the line on taxes and voted to reduce government spending and regulations that impede free enterprise and the creation of jobs,” Hotze concluded.
Dr. Schwertner comes from six generations of family farming and ranching roots in Williamson County. He was elected to the Texas House in 2010, representing Milam and parts of Williamson County, and he serves on the Appropriations and Public Health Committees. He is a small business owner, and practicing physician living in Georgetown, Texas.
State Senate District 5 includes Brazos, Freestone, Grimes, Leon, Limestone, Madison, Milam, Robertson, Walker and Williamson counties.
