Georgetown, TX—Dr. Charles Schwertner, Republican Candidate for State House District 20, held his campaign kick‐off fundraiser last night. The well attended event was filled with well over 150 residents and local leaders from across Williamson and Milam Counties who came to show their support for Dr. Schwertner’s candidacy.
The kick‐off fundraiser was held at the home of active local Republicans Bryan and Marsha Farney and was hosted by Georgetown Mayor George Garver.
“I am truly humbled with tonight’s turnout,” Dr. Schwertner said. “I have been working extremely hard over the past several weeks to share my conservative views and to expand my support base. It is apparent that my efforts have been successful. I would especially like to thank Mayor George Garver for his support. It is a true honor to have respected local leaders like Mayor Garver and businessman Jim Schwertner on my team.”
Dr. Schwertner’s campaign platform calls for lowering taxes, protecting pro‐family and pro‐life values, promoting local control and accountability of public schools and creating quality local jobs. He is also strongly opposed to President Obama’s proposed government run national health care reform.
“There is no one more qualified for this job than Charles Schwertner,” Georgetown Mayor George Garver said. “His experience as a physician, local small business owner and dedicated family man will allow him to be an effective conservative voice for Williamson and Milam Counties in the Legislature.”
Dr. Schwertner, his wife Belinda and their three sons are residents of Georgetown and active members of St. Helen’s Catholic Church. He is the managing partner and a practicing physician of Georgetown Orthopedics PLLC, a medical clinic with over 25 employees that provides annual care to over 20,000 local patients. He also serves as president of the Williamson County Medical Society.
Dr. Schwertner is also a member of the Williamson County Republican Party, Texas Right to Life, the National Rifle Association and the Texas State Rifle Association. His in‐laws live in Sun City and his father‐in‐law is a retired Army Sergeant Major.
Texas House District 20 is currently represented by Rep. Dan Gattis who has announced his candidacy for the Texas Senate.
