State Rep. Charles Schwertner Announces Early Endorsements for State Senate, District 5

List of more than 100 community and Republican leaders includes district mayors, current Texas A&M University Regents, education leaders, GOP club presidents, precinct chairs, Republican and TEA Party activists, and local state legislators

GEORGETOWN, TX – Today State Rep. Charles Schwertner (R-Georgetown) announced early endorsements for his State Senate campaign.The list of more than 100 community and Republican leaders includes district mayors, current Texas A&M University Regents, education leaders, GOP club presidents, precinct chairs, Republican and TEA Party activists, and local state legislators.State Senator Steve Ogden announced last week that he will not seek reelection.

Highlights of Schwertner’s endorsement list include the mayors of the four largest cities in Williamson County; four current Texas A&M University Regents; State Representatives Byron Cook, Marva Beck, and Tim Kleinschmidt who represent portions of Senate District 5; and State Representative Fred Brown who represented part of Brazos County including the Bryan-College Station area before resigning earlier this year.

“I am humbled by the early endorsements and will continue my efforts to earn the support of community leaders and residents across the district,” said Schwertner.“Senator Ogden leaves some big shoes to fill, and if elected, I promise to work hard to protect our community, our families, and our shared conservative values.”

Senator Steve Ogden has not made an endorsement but recently said of Schwertner in theWilliamson County Sun:

“…I would say he’s well-qualified for the job and I would hope the people of the district would take a good long look at him because he would make a great State Senator.”

Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR) PAC also endorsed Schwertner last week calling him “…a principled conservative as well as an impressive and effective Member of the Texas House.”
